This initiative supports the mentorship and educational programming at the core of every UroMissionsWorks mission. Specifically, your gift helps fund structured mentorship engagements between our volunteer faculty and urology residents, didactic lecture series and skills-based workshops, and the ongoing professional relationships that continue to develop long after each mission concludes.

Our Story

UroMissionsWorks was founded in 2017 by Dr. Arthur L. Burnett, II, a Professor of Urology at Johns Hopkins, whose career has been defined as much by the physicians he has trained as by the patients he has treated. Dr. Burnett understands firsthand that mentorship is not a supplement to medical education – it is the foundation of it.

Over more than 15 years of visiting professor appointments at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Burnett recognized that urology residents in the Caribbean were technically capable but often lacked access to the specialized guidance and advanced procedural experience available to their peers in better-resourced settings. UroMissionsWorks was founded to eliminate that disparity – “one physician at a time”.

Our mentorship model is personal, sustained, and built on genuine professional relationships. We do not parachute in and leave. We build partnerships, return year after year, and measure our success not in procedures performed but in careers shaped and communities served.
